Join the 8:26 Initiative! (UPDATED)

While talking to our resident prayer Ninja, Donna Mash, on Sunday, we felt like instituting a church-wide prayer movement. The topic we are asking you to pray about is a building. As we announced a couple of weeks ago, we are seriously looking at a building to lease on Noland Rd. We have been talking to the owners for several months about a super reduced price. We are also open to any other building that God would bring our way.

 So, here’s what we’re going to do. At 8:26 am and 8:26 pm (symbolic of Romans 8:26) we are asking everyone to pray, individually, at home (or wherever you are). Please set your watches, cell phones or other reminder devices to 8:26 so we can all be united in prayer.There are many other great things that we can be called to pray about. For instance, Dan O’Halloran is meeting on Friday mornings with others to pray for marriages. Others post prayer requests on the City, and they are all amazing things to fall onto our knees about and I encourage us to do so. But we are asking for church-wide prayer about the building because this is a moment in the life of our church where we are trying to discern God’s will for this.

I want to encourage you to pray prayers of faith, believing that God is faithful to hear and answer our prayers. Ask God to lead us clearly. Pray that potential deals would be more miraculous than we could imagine. That God would go before us and make a way, even where there is no way. Let your prayers for our church move beyond the building and pray for anything you feel led to if you so desire. Above all, pray that God would be our chief affection and that our hope would be in nothing but the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ! Oh, how He longs to work His will through our prayers!

Consider this passage of scripture;

Romans 8:26-28

26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, becauseg]”>[g] the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,h]”>[h] for those who are called according to his purpose.

Open-handed let us pray!

UPDATE: 11-26-12

We are no longer considering the Noland South space as an option. After reviewing and having the contract analyzed, we feel that the cost was 100-125% more than what was discussed. Because of this we do not want to get into a building only to have all of our resources being poured into it. This was a disappointment but we know that it only means that God has a better blessing for us. We have several other options recently brought to our attention that we will begin to look into. Please continue to be thankful for all that we have and continue to pray with us for a great vision fitting place to be great Worshipers, in Community on God’s Mission together!
