I have been at The Avenue since 2014 as the Director of Gospel Communities. I am now also one of the pastors here. My wife of five years, Kayla, and I have two young boys, William and Samuel. Thus my evenings are spent playing lions and telling stories about dragons. I am from Southeast Missouri and graduated from Southwest Baptist University with a Bachelors of Arts in Christian Ministry. I have served in ministry for many years, but I have passion for The Avenue and our people. I have never served among people who love and take care of each other so well. It is a privilege to walk with them.
We have a passion for making disciples. This means that in our home discipleship happens as a rhythm of life with our boys from reading the Bible with them, praying often and teaching them to be like Christ. We also live on a college campus because of my wife’s job, so we have the unique opportunity to invite college students into our lives and prayerfully make disciples. Inviting others into our life experiences and sharing honestly about life and real struggles is where we see the Lord opening doors for us to share the gospel and minister to those around us. Kayla and I never cease to be amazed at the way the Lord chooses to use us to help grow others. When we got married we agreed to make Psalm one our life passage. We ask that the Lord would make us firmly rooted by streams of water and bless us. We are thankful for the work he has done, is doing and will do.
Shortly after moving here, the Lord began to stir a calling in my heart for church planting. As my wife and I prayed about and pursued this; it became clear that the Lord was calling us to plant from The Avenue in Blue Springs, MO. This will be happening in fall of 2017. Nothing excites me like talking about taking the Gospel into our every lives and sharing it with those around us in a way that pushes back darkness and invites the Kingdom here.
