Role at The Avenue Church?
Pastor – Preaching, Financial Oversight, Operations
Family info? Wife Ashley, kids & crazy dog.
What does your background look like? I graduated from Northwest Missouri State in 2004 and currently work as the Director of Online Ministry for a non-profit Christian sports ministry called the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In 2010 I graduated from Calvary Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO with a Masters degree in Bible and Theology.
Passions? My passions include seeing God transform men and women to be exactly who they are created to be – those who love and follow Christ daily. I enjoy teaching, am constantly trying to hear from God more clearly and sharpen my teaching and communication skills. I’m fascinated with how media and technology intertwine with our faith and how we can leverage those for the growth of the Body.
Sports teams? Chiefs and Royals by default.
Favorite movies? Shawshank Redemption, Rocky I, Ghostbusters I, Crash, Transformers I, IronMan, Captain America
Favorite music? Dave Barnes, Michael McDonald, Shawn McDonald, Jon McLaughlin, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Billy Joel, Josh Garrels, Ben Rector. I would describe my taste as pop-retro-random.
Journey to The Avenue? Ashley and I originally were married at and attended Lee’s Summit Community Church. We answered the call to help plant the Avenue and have been here since our earliest days at LSCC. After a few years of serving within leadership God again called – this time into the role of pastor. In November 2011, I was ordained a pastor at The Avenue.
What excites you about using your role at The Avenue to impact God’s kingdom? Having spent a significant part of my life chasing my own plans, I’m excited about the plans God has for me, my family and our church. He has so much for us in our relational networks – within our families, neighborhoods, cities and beyond. I’m looking forward to continuing to help write the chapters of the Avenue church for years to come.
