The Avenue partners with Harvesters for the BackSnack program

The Avenue Church is blessed to partner with Harvesters Food Bank in Kansas City, MO and their BackSnack program. Each school year, a team from The Avenue works with Harvesters and Independence Schools to feed children who do not have ample food throughout the weekends.

The Harvesters BackSnack Program

Organized and funded by Harvesters Food Bank, the BackSnack program provides food for children who show signs of malnutrition and do not have enough to eat throughout the weekends. As a community partner, The Avenue ensures the food provided by Harvesters gets into the students hands each week. Our team assembles the children’s backpacks each week, and occasionally provides a little “extra” treat or fun item, as well.

The Avenue’s Community Involvement

The Avenue enjoys serving the students of Glendale Elementary and William Southern Elementary School in the Independence, MO public schools. In addition to our teams assembling the packs of food each week. the church also enjoys hosting special drives for the students. Church-wide, we’ve rallied to collect batteries, gloves and special snacks to serve our BackSnack families.

The Avenue’s Backsnack team is led by Scott Simmons. To learn more about the BackSnack program or get involved, please contact Scott.
