Thanks for the message this week. I've been in church most of my life, and I never really made the connection between advent and Christ's second coming before. I'm sure it was mentioned, but no one made the point that it is different than just getting ready for Christmas.

My prayer for us as Christ followers & partners in the gospel:

Phil. 1:3-6: 3I thank my God every time I remember you. 4In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

1.	Desire to know you deeply Lord, thirsting for you, seeking you above all else as our first love (Ps. 42:1, Ps. 63:1-8, Ps. 16, Ps. 25, Ps. 27, John 17:3, 2 Peter 1:3-4. Phil 3:7-10)
2.	Hunger for your word; wanting to read, meditate, memorize, & study it (Matt 4:4, Prov. 2, II Tim 3:16-17, Joshua 1:8-9)
3.	Devoted to passionately pouring our hearts out to you Lord in prayer (Mark 1:35)
4.	That we would be transformed daily more & more into your likeness Christ (Romans 8) through the Holy Spirit manifesting Himself in the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5, II Peter 1:3-7) & our walk
5.	That we would find our love, significance & purpose in you alone Lord; that Your name, character, and renown would be the delight & desire of our hearts (Phil 3, Isaiah 26:3, Ps. 27. Matt 6:33)
6.	That we would seek Your nature, purpose & will above all things, that we would live & lay down our lives for your glory by loving, worshipping & obeying you in every area of life.
7.	That we would be united in fellowship with your Body, the Church, encouraging each other in Your grace & truth, serving & building each other up by exercising our God given gifts (Eph 4:1-16, Col 1:22-29) & growing in community.
8.	That we would be beacons of light for you; shining in this dark world the light of Christ in such a way that men & woman would see you God and praise you ( Matt 5:16-17).
9.	That we would love you with all our heart, soul, mind & strength, and love others as we love ourselves and even as Christ has loved the church
10.	That you Lord would work through us to reproduce & bear fruit spiritually & physically; making disciples of all nations, growing your Kingdom. (John 15, Matt 28:19-20 )
11.	That we would have Your heart & vision for the lost, seeing them as harassed & helpless like sheep without a shepherd. (Matt 9:35-38), seeking to share the truth & love of Christ with them, getting to know them & their needs, serving them, & sharing the gospel through our actions & our words, then praying for you to draw them to you
12.	That you would protect & provide for us as only you can for your grace is sufficient; your power is made perfect in weakness. Clothe us in Christ and put your Armor of God on us so we may stand. Uphold us with your righteous right hand.
